OpenVPN Configuration Example

PIM Configuration

Note: The I.P addresses configured between the routers are in the format of 192.168.x.x/24 for routers.

In the setup, an OpenVPN tunnel has been established between Router R1 and R3 so that the traffic flowing between routers can be encrypted.

The connectivity between the routers is done using a dynamic routing protocol Open Shortest Path First.

In this topology, site-to-site OpenVPN is configured using UDP protocol.

The remote host for Router R1 is configured to 40.40.40.2 and at Router R3 to 30.30.30.1.

The local-port and remote-port used at routers is 1195.

The local-address and remote-address at router R1 is configured to 100.100.100.1 and 100.100.100.2 respectively. In the same manner Router R2 has been configured with local-address and remote-address.

A static route between R1 and R3 is configured using next-hop address 100.100.100.2 and 100.100.100.2 respectively.

Once the configuration is done, OpenVPN will be established and PCs are able to communicate with each other in encrypted format.

The above mentioned features are offered and supported by VCL-MX-50xx family of IP/MPLS Routers.
